North America

Jynn Goh & Tan Lee Sar (Area Directors)

Greetings from Contact Singapore (North America)!

Singapore has always enjoyed strong diplomatic and economic ties with the US and Canada. Despite our small size, Singapore is consistently ranked within the top 15 trading partners of the US. Singapore is also Canada's 2nd largest export market in Southeast Asia and 21st largest worldwide. In 2003, the US-Singapore Free Trade Agreement – the first FTA to be concluded between the US and an Asian country – further cemented the strong ties between Singapore and North America.

Each year, thousands of Singapore students head to the US and Canada to study in one of the educational institutions. Many of them stay on to work in various industries, in particular, finance, IT and engineering after they graduate. Likewise, Singapore is home to a sizeable community of American and Canadian expatriates who are working in many of the MNCs and in diverse fields.

To many expatriates and Singaporeans returning from overseas, Singapore represents the nexus between the East and the West. While it shares many similarities with the US and Canada – language, top-notch facilities, an excellent school system and a high standard of living, Singapore is also rich in Asian influences and offers many exciting possibilities for one to be immersed in Asian culture. Most of the major Asian cities, including the Chinese and Indian markets, are within a 7-hour flight from Singapore, making it the ideal gateway to the rest of Asia.

So do not hesitate further, whether you are a student or a working professional, get in touch with us to find out why Singapore – a tropical island at the southern tip of the Asian continent – should be your next destination. Contact Singapore also holds many activities, including recruitment road shows, information sessions, speakers series and industry networking sessions across North America so the next time we are in your city, do come by and we’ll put you in contact with Singapore.

We also invite all student or professional organizations that are interested to partner Contact Singapore to profile opportunities in Singapore and learn more about what it is like to live and work in Singapore to contact us at boston@contactsingapore.sg and sanfrancisco@contactsingapore.sg

Thank you and we hope to see you in sunny Singapore!
